The South Calgary Community Association represents South Calgary, Altadore, River Park and Garrison Woods residential areas.

Ours is one of the fastest growing communities in Canada with a rich mix of cultural diversity, parks and green space, recreation facilities, and a one-of-a-kind shopping district, Marda Loop.

The South Calgary Community Association is a not-for-profit body run by a group of dedicated volunteers who have proudly served the residents of our community for over forty years. The scope of our work revolves around many issues in our community including transportation, development, parks and green space plus recreational, and educational programs for all ages. Our organization serves as a conduit to City Hall as the voice for our residents.

What have we done for you lately?

A list of the Top 5 things the SCCA has delivered on behalf of our residents.

1. Our annual fundraiser, Indulge continues to be the party of the year in South Calgary.  Proceeds raised at this annual event support programs offered by the SCCA for our members.

2. Our traffic committee is working to address community traffic issues and keep the community informed. For more information, e-mail traffic@southcalgarycommunity.ca

3. Our members receive regular e-mail updates with information ranging from when the next traffic meeting is to how to get your hands on those hot tickets for INDULGE.  We continue to work with the Calgary Outdoor Swimming Pool Association to offer our community a great outdoor pool during the summer months.  With some of our fundraising proceeds we’ve made some improvements to our facility and hope you’ll come check us out when the summer months are here.

4. We’ve partnered with the local chapter of the Calgary Block Watch Association to bring graffiti abatement programs into our community.  We continue to work with our Block Watch chapter to reduce crime and graffiti in our neighbourhood...remember to call 311 everytime you spot graffiti in our neighbourhood.

5. We provided seed funding and facilities to the Calgary Community Gardens organization to create and operate a community garden on our site.  Please drop by the hall next spring to see what they are growing!

If you are a member of the SCCA and haven’t been receiving these monthly updates, drop us a line at membership@southcalgarycommunity.ca
